This solution is intended for checking the calibration and accuracy of refractometers designed to measure Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), AUS 32 and AdBlue®.

DEF is manufactured to a nominal concentration of 32.5% urea by weight. This small-volume verification sample provides a convenient way to check your refractometer without having to purchase or handle a large quantity of DEF.

Simply place a few drops on the clean refractometer prism and take your reading.

The expected DEF concentration is:

32.5% Urea

For best results, allow the sample and refractometer to reach approximately 20°C / 68°F before verification.

HOW TO USE

1. Clean the refractometer prism thoroughly.
2. Allow the verification fluid to reach approximately 20°C / 68°F.
3. Place 2–3 drops on the prism.
4. Close the daylight plate/sample cover.
5. Take the reading according to your refractometer’s instructions.
6. The expected DEF concentration is approximately 32.5% urea.
7. Clean the prism after testing.
